Agony (n)

contest; wrestling; severe struggling with pain and suffering

Anguish is the reflection on trouble or pain that is already past, while agony is a struggle with pain in the present. This word is only used in the New Testament by Luke (22:44) to describe our Lord's fearful struggle in Gethsemane.

The verb from which the noun “agony” is derived is used to denote an earnest endeavour or striving, as “Strive [agonize] to enter” (Luke 13:24); “Then would my servants fight” [agonize] (John 18:36). Compare 1 Cor. 9:25; Col. 1:29; 4:12; 1 Tim. 6:12; 2 Tim. 4:7, where the words “striveth,” “labor,” “conflict,” “fight,” are the translations of the same Greek verb.

Cartoons for Christ, Artist uses unique way to reach world for Christ (OneNewsNow.com)

The originator, Mike Joens, came to Christ in 1972 while in the Marine Corps. He said that although he planned to take the pulpit as a pastor, he decided to make animation his pulpit instead. It became clear to Joens in 1978 that cartoons should be used to spread the gospel throughout the world.

"[I] came up with the idea for Theo at that time teaching children God's Word and how they ought to live in the light of it," explains Joens. "It's a project that, it's truly teaching kids the Bible, not just how we shouldn't lie or we shouldn't steal. Those are important lessons for kids to learn. But I am trying to teach true biblical foundations upon which our faith is built -- what we believe and why we believe it."

The animated DVDs, he believes, will open good discussions about the Word in English as well as other languages.

"We have it in Spanish, in Portuguese, in Mandarin, in Japanese and in Hindi, and that's our first five," says the artist. "Then after that we'll put it into another five. We have a partnership with Child Evangelism Fellowship and the idea behind our show is, if someone buys a DVD, one DVD will be sent to a kid -- a needy kid -- somewhere in the world through Child Evangelism Fellowship."

The biblical project "Theo" can be purchased in Christian bookstores and other businesses as well as there being a "Theo" ap in the Apple store.

WASHINGTON – The National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) group sounded the alarm Thursday about new media outlets such as Facebook, Google and Apple, which they say have written policies that violate the fundamental rules of free expression, particularly concerning religious free speech.
The NRB released a report at the National Press Club Thursday analyzing the various content policies of social networking websites. What they found was disturbing: new media platforms Facebook, Apple, Comcast, AT&T and Google have adopted policies to censor lawful viewpoints expressing Christian views or controversial ideas on “hot button issues.” Some platforms, such as Apple’s iTunes App Store and Google’s search engine, have already started to use those policies to remove orthodox Christian viewpoints considered “offensive” or too controversial.
